Stephen Curry + Lebron James = Why I Watch Basketball

by TK March 29th, 2008 | Basketball, NBA, NCAA
I was watching the mighty Davidson team beat up an over-hyped Wisconsin team when I was amazed to see that Lebron James was in the crowd at the game. I read after the game that King James had actually called Davidson to request tickets so he could come see Stephen Curry. Besides the obvious cool factor of what it means to have one of the two greatest basketball players on the planet (Kobe is the other) request tickets to go see a player to whom he has no connection, it has also set up a personal situation

The 13 Million Dollar Cure

by LJ Dovichi March 28th, 2008 | Baseball
The Los Angeles Dodgers have gotten sick of being second best and never finishing first anymore, so they've gone out and bought a $13 million dollar cure -- Coach Joe Torre.

Joe Torre is ranked eighth in all-time wins and has won four World Series titles while coaching the New York Yankees. He became well-known for his aptitude in handling star players' egos as well as his titles, but lately his skill is being scrutinized. His teams have been struggling in recent years -- the last three seasons with the NY Yankees, his team has lost the first-round playoff each time.

Heard it on the Radio…

I think that

"Take me out to the ball game,
Take me out with the crowd.
Buy me some peanuts and Cracker Jack,
I don't care if I never get back,
Let me root, root, root for the home team,
If they don't win it's a shame.
For it's one, two, three strikes, you're out,
At the old ball game."

Hurray! April is coming, April is almost here. You know what that means, don't you? The start of Major League Baseball. Home runs, strike outs, hotdogs, and garlic fries, all building towards the pinnacle of the season - The

The Four Great American Sporting Events

by TK March 20th, 2008 | Basketball, Football, Golf, Horse Racing, NCAA, NFL, Sporting Events
Ahhh... in the next two months 3 of the 4 great American sporting events take place. By my definition, a great sporting event is one where non-sports fans know it is something special and want to be a part of it. And in the U.S. there are 4 great American sporting events:

The Super Bowl - It kind of speaks for itself. It is a massive event that almost the entire country watches on television. Star entertainers perform at half time. Commercials cost millions of dollars, and many people aren't even sure who is playing.
