Michael Vick is getting a second chance. Whether he deserves it or not is a moot point. The Philadelphia Eagles, one of the most character-sensitive teams in the NFL (and who could blame them after the whole TO fiasco) decided that Vick does merit a second chance at the big time, so he's back in the NFL.
Now, I had predicted that someone would take a chance on him when a starting QB went down and the team got desperate. That's not what happened. The Eagles have a slew of injuries, but their starting quarterback, Donovan McNabb is
9.58–Say What?
by Bea August 24th, 2009 | Track and Field
By now I am sure that most of you have heard about Usain Bolt's ridiculously fast 100 meter dash time, but in case of you had not heard, it was a 9.58. That is 0.11 seconds faster than the mark he set last year at the Beijing Olympics. That much of an improvement on a 100 meter dash race has never happened before. However, no one knows just how fast his time would have been at last year's Beijing Olympics if he had not started celebrating his victory at least ten meters from the finish line. Do you remember that
The Villainous Tiger Woods
by Ronald A. Rowe August 11th, 2009 | Golf
My favorite golfer in the world at this minute is Padraig Harrington. He's the 134th ranked professional golfer in the world behind Tiger Woods and 132 other guys of lesser renown. He's my current favorite golfer by a lot, but I admit that I'd never heard of him before today.
The reason I'm so currently fond of Mr. Harrington is that he's the one player in a position to challenge Tiger Woods for the World Golf Championships Bridgestone Invitational being held this weekend. Today he's leading the indomitable Tiger Woods (and a bunch of other guys of lesser renown, too) by 3

Michael Phelps Takes out the Trash
by Joe Lawrence August 6th, 2009 | Olympics, Sporting Events
Trash talk is very common in sports. However, if you are going to talk trash for weeks about someone you better have more than a fancy swimsuit to back up your words. Michael Phelps proved this point of mine against Milorad Cavic in Rome recently in the World Championships.
Milorad Cavic is the swimmer Phelps beat by a fingernail in the Beijing Olympics path to eight gold medals. Cavic and many others protested that Cavic actually won the race despite photo evidence and the touchpad time. He was determined to crush Phelps in a Rome rematch and called him out publicly.

Are You Ready For Some Football?
by Ronald A. Rowe August 4th, 2009 | Football, NFL
The off season was long and devoid of football. But that all changes this week... sort of. We've still got a month and a half until the games count, but the NFL season FINALLY begins this week with the start of training camp.
And what has changed in the long, long months since the Steelers hoisted the Lombardi trophy? Well, Brett Favre officially retired. Until he changes his mind again or until some team's starting QB goes down for the season and they offer Favre a dump truck full of money to finish out the year. Unless they ask Michael Vick
