The News

by Ronald A. Rowe November 30th, 2009 | Golf
I've been kind of out of it this week. Somewhere between the pre-holiday busy-ness and the post-holiday tryptophan coma, I neglected to watch any news.  Football, yes.  Macy's Parade, yes.  News, no.  I figured that if something truly noteworthy happened, it would filter down to me somehow.  Based on that plan, it appears that the most monumental happening of the entire week was... Tiger Woods crashed his Cadillac SUV.

A couple of days, several meals of leftover turkey, and a little research later, it turns out that there were a few questions surrounding the crash.  I've said it before... the

NFL Week 11

by Ronald A. Rowe November 25th, 2009 | Football, NFL
How fickle are the fortunes of the NFL. Before the season started, I picked the Broncos as a Super Bowl contender, a move for which I was ridiculed at the time. When the Broncos were 6-0, I looked like a genius. A month later the Denver team is 6-4 and in serious jeopardy of missing the playoffs altogether.

And what has happened to the NFC East? The black and blue division, the toughest division in the NFL, went 3-1 this week, with the only loss a division game. They didn’t look very good doing it, though.

Drama in the AFC

by Joe Lawrence November 23rd, 2009 | Football, NFL
November 22 proved to be a tough day for the AFC North.  All four teams suffered a loss.  All of which added some more drama to the potential playoff contenders.

The Steelers' loss to the Bengals made the fans believe the Bengals would runaway with the division.  However, their loss to Oakland put kept their win margin only one game ahead of Pittsburgh.  The final score was Oakland 20, Cincy 17.

Pittsburgh was favored to beat the Chiefs by everyone.  I guess no one told the Chiefs that.  Even with a 10 point lead over Kansas City heading into the half, they

NFL Week 10

by Ronald A. Rowe November 18th, 2009 | Football, NFL
To celebrate the 2010 season moving into double digits, here’s a special “What’s up?” edition of the NFL Weekly Update.

What’s up with the replay officials? Last week, the Philadelphia Eagles were absolutely brutalized when the replay officials failed to spot the ball properly, despite the huge EAGLE logo on the field clearly marking the appropriate spot for the ball. This week the Tampa Bay Buccaneers were the victims of an obvious overturn that the officials just… didn’t make. I’m sure the nice letter of apology the team will receive from the league this week will make them

Michelle Wie Wins

by Ronald A. Rowe November 16th, 2009 | Golf
Michelle Wie is the female equivalent of Tiger Woods.  Both are of Asian descent, both excelled at golf at an extremely young age, both are charming and attractive.  But until this week, only one of them had won a PGA sanctioned golf tournament.

Michelle Wie, who at the ripe old age of 20 has ten years of professional golf experience under her belt, won her first LPGA tournament this weekend, beating rival Paula Creamer by two strokes at the Lorena Ochoa Invitational.  Now, unless you're a hardcore LPGA fan (and let's face it, what other kind of LPGA fan is there?),
