Top Five Starting Quarterbacks for the NFLThe quarterbacks are the people in the NFL who have the biggest expectations placed on their shoulders. After all, their job is to put the numbers on the scoreboard. They are in essence driving their team’s performance on the road to victory. Because these guys are leaders on the field, they get the most attention when they succeed and even more attention when they fail. So, here are the top five starting quarterbacks this season.

Ranking first on this list is Aaron Rodgers of the Green Bay Packers. He has been a starter for Green Bay since 2008. He has so far taken them to one Super Bowl win in 2010. He also holds the record for the best passer rating in the NFL. While this season Green Bay is one for one, Aaron threw some impressive numbers against the win over Washington with four touchdown passes. Yet, his team won’t likely see the play-offs this year. But it won’t be because of Aaron Rodgers.

In the number two spot is Tom Brady of the New England Patriots. Brady has an illustrious career with the Patriots. He has taken them to the Super Bowl five times since he has started for them. So far this season, the Patriots have logged two wins with Brady throwing for three touchdown passes. The Patriots are also likely Super Bowl contenders this year if they keep racking up the wins.

The number three starting quarterback this year is Peyton Manning of the Denver Broncos. Manning is putting up impressive numbers so far this season with nine touchdown passes. His team has scored over 40 points in both of its wins. If Manning keeps throwing this well, his team is well on its way to the Super Bowl.

At number four is Drew Brees for the New Orleans Saints. He holds the record for throwing at least one touchdown pass in 54 straight games. While he has thrown for three touchdown passes so far, he also has three interceptions. He is going to have to stop throwing those interceptions if he wants a shot at the Super Bowl. Even though his team has posted two wins, he is still getting off to a rough start this season.

Number five on this list is Ben Roethlisberger of the Pittsburgh Steelers. He has previously led the Steelers to a Super Bowl. But he is getting off to a very slow start this season with only two touchdown passes. He has also thrown two interceptions. His team is currently on a two-game losing streak and that needs to change dramatically if he wants to lead the Steelers back to the Super Bowl.

These are the top five starting quarterbacks this season. While there is still the whole rest of the season to play, these are still some of the best quarterbacks to watch in the NFL.
