What is the Best Martial Art?
I have had numerous people ask me hundreds of questions about martial arts, however, I do have a favorite. I love it when people ask me what martial art is the best art out of all of them. It is a very difficult question with so many variables, and honestly there is not one answer.
“Why do you like the question then…moron?” It always leads to a discussion about martial arts. I love to talk about (and write about) martial arts. ‘Martial arts’ literally translates into ‘the way of war.’ It is an art that is practiced to protect a nation or one’s self. Remember fighting is an art not a science. Art forms require practice and only can be mastered in time.
It is like walking through an art museum. Everything you see is amazing. Some of the stuff makes no sense to you, and others really appeal to your senses. Some appear like a five year old could have accomplished them, and others make you stare in awe. Each of those artists spent years developing those skills to create that one piece.
Martial arts are identical. Some arts seem like a five year old could do them, and others are way too abstract to pursue. Then there are those that seem to fit your style. The trick is meeting that style or need.
Children need discipline and coordination and arts like Taekwondo or karate are perfect for them to earn these traits. These are very structured arts that infuse history and culture. Kids often need an outlet for their aggression and a place to get some attention and recognition.
Many adults seek to learn self defense in this crazy world. The best art for that is Krav Maga. This art is extremely effective against real world attackers in many situations. Some just want conditioning, and arts like Judo or Hapkido are good for that. Those loving competition should engage in MMA. Here you will learn Muay Thai, boxing and Jiu Jitsu.
This is barely scratching the surface. Get out there and see what art appeals to your senses.

you’ve got a nice article here!!!
