I have said before that I recently received the second greatest piece of news…the Steelers are going to the Super Bowl. Well, Sunday February 1st, I got some better news…the Steelers won their sixth Super Bowl surpassing all other franchises! Just sit there for a moment, and imagine what configuration you would choose to display your six rings.
Resoundingly, the critics and fans have deemed Super Bowl XLIII as one of the best (if not, the best) games of all times. There was more excitement in the last five minutes than in almost all other games combined! I couldn’t even sit down, and my heart was beating twice the speed of sound.
First, I want to give a moment to say that James Harrison had one of the best run backs after an interception that I have ever seen. Two things on that. One, Larry Fitzgerald ran forty yards out of bounds before actually catching him and should have been flagged. It would have been a shame if he had tackled Harrison. Secondly, Harrison greatly disappointed me with his behavior close to the end of the game.
He was attacking another player and then threw him to the ground. All season long he has impressed me and obviously his team and the league. He won defensive player of the year, and the team voted him MVP. To do something like that was just not called for.
Next, the haters are trying to say Arizona gave up on their last defensive stand. The problem is that they gave up on the three man rush, which was dominating the Steelers offense the second half. Arizona decided to go to a prevent defense with a four man front and zone coverage. This opened up way too many holes for the Steel city.
It all came down to a pass in the end zone that went right between the fingers of Santonio Holmes. This former Buckeye allowed victory to fall to the ground. He made good on his second attempt and toe tapped his way to Super Bowl MVP.
The moral: Don’t Hate.
